For many people, Easter is about going to church and celebrating Jesus. For others, it’s about having egg hunts with their family and eating chocolate. Both of those things are totally rad, but I think this day is about more than either of those things.
These days, I’m not so into organized religion. I think it’s important to not only have faith, but to actively love others, be kind and to lift people up. Something I hope to do more as I grow is to step outside of my own bubble and to connect with people who are different from me. The thing that inevitably happens when you do this is that you realize we, as people, are not so different.
This day is about new beginnings and second chances. Most of all, it’s about hope and realizing that there is a greater purpose for each of us. We are loved and we matter. I think, more than anything, we should use this day as an opportunity to let go.
If someone in your life has hurt you, try to forgive them. Not for them, but for your own inner peace. If you have anger or regrets that are holding you back, give them wings and let them fly away. If you have worries about the future, let them flow down the river because you don’t need to hold onto them.
We are living in a larger story, and there may be bumps in the road, but keep going. Everywhere you look, there are miracles to be found. Even in the darkness, you can find a light. And if you can’t find one, you can make one. Because there is always a light shining inside of you.
Happy Easter. I wish you a safe, blessed, wonderful, joyful and magical day. I hope you are surrounded by love, and that you love and care for yourself.
